Missouri WIC Pilot Finds Retailer Training Did Not Raise Benefit Use
A pilot involving nearly 2,900 Missouri WIC participants and 44 stores found that retailer training improved staff confidence with WIC transactions but did not increase benefit redemption during the study period. Researchers say checkout errors, product shortages, transportation difficulties and other barriers can leave families unable to use benefits before they expire.
