Study Links Diagnosed Voice Disorders to Higher Risk of Cognitive Decline
A large study from Drexel University found that patients with diagnosed voice disorders but no hearing loss had a 58% higher risk of cognitive impairment or dementia than matched patients without voice or hearing problems. The observational findings suggest voice changes may warrant further study as an early marker, but they do not establish that voice disorders cause cognitive decline.
